GATOR MOON

Every year at Gator Moon
There's dancing to Zydeco tunes
By everyone out at the square
While gumbo and rice fill the air

Foot-stompin', tail-shakin', crawfish etouffe 'n' all kinds of great Cajun food
Every springtime, this old town finds new life under a blue Gator Moon

Come with me . . . come take my hand
Please join me now for a dance
And if you get up the nerve
You'll have a good time, I'm sure

Foot-stompin', tail-shakin', crawfish etouffe 'n' all kinds of great Cajun food
Every springtime, this old town finds new life under a blue Gator Moon

Foot-stompin', tail-shakin', crawfish etouffe 'n' all kinds of great Cajun food
Every springtime, this old town finds new life under a blue Gator Moon

     Under a blue Gator Moon
     Under a blue Gator Moon

I had the music for this (or at least the main riff) back in 1997.   I wanted to flesh it out and get lyrics to it, and asked my buddy Bill Warrington if he would be interested.  We wrote this at my place in December of 2005, with rewrites in January of 2006.

The fictional festival, "Gator Moon" is loosely based on "Mudbug Madness", which takes place annually on Memorial Day Weekend in Shreveport, Louisiana.  (BTW - my grandmother Stewart was born in Shreveport!)  My first visit to Mudbug Madness was in 2000, and I had a blast.  Great, great music and a lot of fun dancing that ol' Cajun Two-Step!
