    OLD-FASHIONED ROMANCE

Half a heart on a gold chain
Each one with the other's name
I wore your's and you wore mine

Friday nights at the Dairy Queen
And watchin' stars on the Silver Screen
That was such a simple time

Of late night walks and stealing kisses
What a thrill just holding hands
Some things never change with time
     I still like old-fashioned romance

Now the kids have almost grown
Soon they'll leave our happy home
And we'll be the only ones left here

It makes us cry, then makes us laugh
Honey . . . alone again at last!
I've loved you through all these years

Of late night walks and stealing kisses
What a thrill just holding hands
Some things never change with time
     I still like old-fashioned romance

Some things never change with time
     I still like old-fashioned romance

Notes

Written at Leon's place in Goodlettsville back in 1996 . . . we originally had this as a rockin' little piece.  I later changed it to this ballad format.  The 'Dairy Queen' in the song is really a reference to the Foster Freeze back in my hometown of Ventura.   Just up the street from my high school (Buena) . . . my girlfriend Tammie and I used to go there a lot on our dates . . . (that was when I was a college boy) . . . Leon and his wife Doris had been childhood sweethearts and married for many years . . . that was quite an inspiration too!
This is actually one of my personal favorites.
